Dunstaffnage is a fort in western Scotland, and the seat of power of the Macdougall clan.
History[]
By 1296, the Macdougall clan who lived in Dunstaffnage Castle were headed by Alexander Macdougall. His daughter, Kyle, had ran from Dunstaffnage some time prior to 1296 to escape from a forced marriage, joining up with Sören and his mercenaries. In 1297, while attempting to rally the Scottish clans against the English, Sören and his group were chased by archers as they approached Dunstaffnage and, upon entering the fortress, found the clan already preparing for war.[1]
Deorsa, an Assassin accompanying the group surmised that the English were taking a risk attacking a location so far up north with no supply lines established because the Templars had somehow figured out that the Stone of Scone was being taken to Iona. Having had time to regroup after the skirmish with Sören's mercenaries, the English attacked Dunstaffnage,[1] though they were pushed back by the Scottish warriors.[2] A second wave soon returned, and the group split up with Kyle and Fergus staying behind to help their clan, while the rest of their group continued their travels to safeguard the Stone of Scone.[2]
