Cristina d'Avanzago was a member of the Italian Brotherhood of Assassins in Venice during the Renaissance. She was married to Sebastiano d'Avanzago and was the mother to Alessandra d'Avanzago.[1]
Biography[]
In 1501, Cristina dragged Sebastiano into a plot against former ally Agostino Barbarigo, who had betrayed the Assassins. This conspiracy resulted in Sebastiano's exile and Cristina's imprisonment by Barbarigo's soldiers and the Templars.[1]
One night, Cristina woke up Alessandra and led her to the courtyard where a coachman and his hay cart waited to take the girl away. Cristina hugged her daughter and smiled at her while the young girl climbed into the hay before the cart left for Treviso. Cristina managed to get Alessandra safely away before a number of carriages ferrying the Templars arrived at their house.[2]
