Cranshaws is a village in southern Scotland, near the border with England.
History[]
In 1296, after the English attack at Berwick, Sören and his mercenaries were escorting Fillan to Dalkeith when Sören announced they would be stopping at Cranshaws. Though Craig raised concerns about the risk, the leader of the group doubted the English would've ventured so far north. Upon reaching the village however, they found it as nothing more than a mass grave: houses destroyed and ransacked, the bodies of the inhabitants lying in the own blood, and several English soldiers waiting for them.[1]
The group managed to kill every soldier, but one of the cottages caught fire, which quickly spread through the village despite the humidity.[2] Cornavii soon arrived with reinforcements,[1] leading Craig to sacrifice himself to allow his companions to escape the village.[2]
