Craig (died 1296) was a Scottish mercenary and member of Sören's group, with his weapon of choice being the battleaxe. A member of the MacDougall clan, he was the cousin of Fergus.[1]
Biography[]
By 1296, Craig has been part of Sören and his group of mercenaries when they took on a mission to find and recover a set of twins for the Scottish Assassins. While Soren, Kyle, Edan, and Moira found and recovered one of the twins Fillan,[2] Craig and his cousin Fergus later joined them. While riding and escorting an injured Fillan, they learned the English were tracking Fillan based on his description. Thus, they followed Sören's lead to travel to Cranshaws.[3]
Death[]
When they arrived in Cranshaws, they all noticed the bleak and quiet atmosphere. Craig promised to scout ahead while the rest of the group ventured into the village. However, Craig killed two English soldiers on his scout while the rest saw other dead bodies around the village. While Fergus stayed with Fillan, Craig joined the rest against the English soldiers remaining. However, it was a trap set by the Lann Fala, whom Fillan recognized and tried to attack its leader Cornavii. However, when Fillan froze,[4] Craig jumped in and fought against Cornavii while Moira rescused Fillan. With more English coming, the mercenaries fled while Craig sacrificed himself to get Fillian out of there safely and was decapitated by Cornavii.[5]
