Cornavii (died 1297) was a member of the British Templars and the fearsome leader of the Lann Fala, an elite team of killers tasked by the Templars to eradicate the Children of Fal and recover Pieces of Eden.

Biography[]

A member of the British Rite, Cornavii was tasked to lead the Lann Fala, an elite team of hunters to find and to murder the Children of Fal, a group of descendants of "Those Who Came Before" who allied themselves with the Assassins and find the elusive Stone of Scone. By 1288, he found and nearly killed all of the Children of Fal, but two children had escaped his grasp.[1][2] However, for the next eight years, he and the Lann Fala continued to expand the Templars' control by decimating clans and the Children of Fal[3] until he found evidence of the children's location at Berwick.[4]

There, Cornavii found the children's caretaker and surrogate parent, Alastair Aitken, and began to interrogate him brutally. However, the tailor resisted and Cornavii slew him. He heard one of the children cry nearby and ordered his men to capture them, but to no avail.[4] Due to his contact inside the Brotherhood,[2] he began to track a group of mercenaries escorting one of the children. Believing the other to be dead, he laid a trap and laid waste to the village of Cranshaws. When the mercenaries arrive, he sprung his trap and found one of them running to attack.[5]

However, his attacker froze while Cornavii wound up his sword, only for it to be met by another mercenary Craig. While the other mercenaries fled, Cornavii beheaded Craig but failed his mission.[6] He then turned his attention to the military encampment ran by Commander Bradley Dacre and told him about how he will take over his men when they arrive in Scone.[7] Later, he and his men set fire to the forest besides Scone Abbey after learning of the Child of Fal's location. While his men shot the boy down, he came and choked the boy Fillan, whom he remembered how he killed his mother. Yet, the group of mercenaries came and fought off his men while their leader Sören attacked against him. Evenly matched, Cornavii fell to a slash to his back. Seeing his men gone, he fled the fight.[1]

After a year, Cornavii continued on his next task and followed his lead of the Stone of Scone being located at Iona Abbey. There, he found its guards and he and his men fought, with both side taking its losses. Cornavii recovered the stone but was found by Fillan, his twin sister Ailéas, druidess Moira, and Assassins Deorsa and James.[8] With his goal in sight, he was about to use the stone, he was stopped and nearly killed by Sören but was saved by James' warning. While James revealed himself to be the mole and killed Deorsa, he fought off against the mercenary leader. Although his men and James died, he wounded Sören and then used the stone on the twins and the druidess.[2]

Death[]

Yet, Cornavii was shocked to see Fillan stand against the stone's power and fought against him. He lost his grip on the stone, which made Ailéas awake from her nightmare and readied her sword against the Lann Fala leader. Together, the twins fought him but grew tired over his expertise. About to kill them, Cornavii faced only Fillan, while Ailéas attacked the stone under Moira's instruction. The stone's power destroyed the monastery's walls and Cornavii's helmet, showcasing his bruised and scarred face. Against the twins, Cornavii fought again but lost his sword. Soon, he was at Ailéas' blade and promised retribution before she killed him.[9]
