Celtic mythology is the collective body of myths belonging to the Celtic peoples. Most surviving Celtic mythology belongs to the Celts of Ireland and the United Kingdom, as the mythologies of continental Celtic peoples, such as the Gauls and Celtiberians, did not survive their conquest by the Roman Empire and their subsequent conversion to Christianity. The branch of Irish mythology has the largest written body of myths, followed by Welsh mythology.[1]
The Women of the Mist, a group of witch-warriors from the island of Avalon, kept their religions and traditions alive up to at least the late 9th century CE.[2]
