An Irish bracer

A bracer is a type of arm armor mainly used by archers to protect their forearm. A similar piece of forearm armor is a vambrace.

History

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra collected various bracers.

Behind the scenes

Though there are some armor pieces named vambraces in the Assassin's Creed series, such as the Magister's Vambraces, these are misnamed. A vambrace is a forearm guard made as part of a suit of plate armour, covering not only the forearm, but also the elbow, which these pieces do not.
