A Book of Knowledge is the name given to an illuminated manuscript containing information on particular combat skills, be it ranged or melee. Save for a few exceptions, almost every skill was written about in such detail that the contents had to be split into two volumes which were kept separate from each other, though whether it was to make work easier between limner teams or to prevent concentration of knowledge is unclear. The texts were particularly valuable to both the limners who made them and to any people who sought them out, and as a sign of this, the books were often kept on lecterns with a marble base and backing, open for ready access .[1]
In the late 9th century, during her many travels in Europe, the Raven Clan Viking Eivor Varinsdottir read a number of these books and expanded her skillset.[1] Many of these books were found inside churches like the Cliffside Monastery[2] or the Kells Abbey,[3] fortresses like Dover Fortress,[1] or abandoned sites such as the Hidden Ones' former bureau at the Diodurum Ruins.[4] While exploring her visions of Odin's genetic memories in Svartálfaheimr, she also read four more of the books and maintained those skills when she woke.[5]
