ACS DB Belgrave Square

Belgrave Square

Belgrave Square is one of the grandest and largest 19th-century squares in London, United Kingdom.

History

Prior to its development in 1820, the area, located between London and the nearby village of Knightsbridge, was a swampy and rural farming area which served as a haven for dog-fighters. The land was soon developed by landowners in collaboration with the large and weathly Grosvenor family as part of a project to expand London.[1]

Completed in 1825, the corners of the square correspond with the four points of the compass. Uniform houses were constructed that line the square and have been occupied by numerous notable English people, including ambassadors, politicians and Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, the mother of Queen Victoria.[1]

During the mid-19th century, the square was also visited by the British Assassins Evie and Jacob Frye.[2]

Behind the scenes

In game, there is a fountain reused from Unity in the middle of the square, the fountain itself is based on the fountain in the Place des Vosges in Paris.[3]
