"I had planned to infiltrate the Mongolian camp with Qulan Gal. It was said that Khan was there, too."
―Altaïr, reporting on the assassination.[src]

The Assassination of Genghis Khan was an event during the High Middle Ages in which Darim Ibn-La'Ahad, with the help of his family and the Assassin Qulan Gal, brought down and killed Genghis Khan.

Journey to Mongolia

Preparing for his trip to the East, Altaïr left the leadership of the Assassin Order in the hands of Malik, supported by Sef to fend off any affairs. Then he took Maria Ibn-La'Ahad and his son Darim Ibn-La'Ahad, and left Masyaf, travelling through Persia, India and Mongolia, to eventually the Mongolian camp in the Xia province. Throughout this journey, the Ibn-La'Ahad family had liaised with the Assassin Qulan Gal, with whom they eventually broke into the Mongolian camp, where Khan was, supposedly.

Altaïr thought that Genghis Khan possessed a Piece of Eden, similar to the Apple or perhaps the Sword, which he used to power up his unstoppable Mongolian march.

The assassination

While Altaïr and Qulan made their way through the tents, Darim found a vantage point not far from the camp, where he watched over the other Assassins. There, going through the heavily guarded area, the two relied on Darim to dispose of any guards that were about to raise the alarm, so that the they could safely reach Khan. However, as Altaïr was already an aged man, he almost alerted the Mongolians of their presence. It was Qulan Gal who saved him; Altaïr, becoming unwary or clumsy with his age, had let an enemy soldier come up to him and wound him, before Qulan Gal could kill the Mongol guard. Then, Qulan escorted Altaïr out of the camp, bringing the Master to safety.

Moments after that, Qulan formulated a plan with Darim, to flush Khan out of his tent. Genghis Khan, however, was already aware of the threat and tried to escape on horseback, where he was brought down first by Qulan, and then finished off by Darim.
