In order to source images, all users should use the Information template in order to clearly provide all the necessary pieces of information. Whilst it is not mandatory for individuals to use this template, it is recommended. The three parts that you absolutely must fill out are the description of what the image depicts, the source (using the guidelines listed on the main policy page) and the licensing. If you know the author, you must say who that is. If you made any modifications to the image, you must state what they are under “attention”. In order to aide you in learning how to do this, a mock up of the information template is as follows:

Licences
The licence used most frequently by the Assassin's Creed Wiki is fair use, as most images are being sourced from games or other media and uploaded here with the purposes of illustrating written contents.
The wiki has separate licensing templates for indicating fair use, as well as others for options beyond fair use. The following list contains the licensing templates that can be used, with explanations as to each specific case.
Images under fair use
For images from Assassin's Creed material (including games, comics, promotional trailers, etc.) or from any other games or books. Unless you have express permission from an external source to use an image, or the image isn't already covered by a specific shareable licence to begin with, please use one of the following:
- Screenshots – This licence should be used for screenshot images taken from a copyrighted website, video game graphic, computer program graphic, television broadcast, or films.
- Fairuse – This licence is similar to the above, but for images other than screenshots (e.g.: cover art for a game or comic, promotional posters, etc.)
Images used with express permission
- Express – This licence should only be used when said image has been permitted for use on the wiki by the original author of the media; for example, if an artist gives written permission for a piece a piece of unreleased concept art to be uploaded on the condition that adequate attribution be given.
Images under other licences
- – This licence should be used for any images indicated to have the CC-BY-SA 3.0 originally (for instance if it's concept art from a website, and is clearly identified there as a CC-BY-SA 3.0 image).
- Note: This is not to be confused with Fandom's CC-BY-SA licence for community written content, which has no bearing on images uploaded from external sources.
- PD – This licence should be used for any images indicated to be in the public domain (e.g.: country flags, some common logos that have no copyright).
Self-made images
- Self – This licence should be used for any images originally created by the uploader. By uploading your images onto the wiki, you are agreeing to release them into the public domain, granting others automatic permission to use your images so long as sufficient attribution is given.
