- "Until you have experienced the thirst for vengeance, you cannot know the rage it fuels."
- ―Shao Jun, Assassin's Creed Chronicles Announcement Trailer.
Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China is a downloadable video game originally released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on 21 April 2015. The PS Vita version became available on 5 April 2016, as part of a trilogy pack with Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India and Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia.
Set in Ming China from 1526 to 1532, the game acts as a sequel to the 2011 short film Assassin's Creed: Embers, and follows Shao Jun, who is the last remaining Assassin of the Chinese Brotherhood following a deadly purge overseen by the Templars. Strengthened by her meeting with the Italian Assassins' Mentor Ezio Auditore and armed with her stealth and combat skills, Shao Jun goes on a quest for vengeance against the Templars as she attempts to restore peace and stability to China and rebuild her fallen Brotherhood.[1]
The game differs stylistically from most previous entries in the franchise, being set on a 2.5D plane like Assassin's Creed II: Discovery. It is the first installment in the Assassin's Creed Chronicles series, which continued in 2016 with the release of Chronicles: India and Chronicles: Russia, both of which feature a similar style.[2]
