Summary[]
- Izumi Settsu, 1542
Tsuyu watches the man standing over the dead sailors and asks who he is. The man states that they will talk later but not before the Templar shoots at him. Blocking it with his gauntlet, the man chases after the Templar but not before the Templar reloads his pistol. Aiming at the man, the Templar almost fires his gun but Tsuyu manages to blind him by placing a bucket over his head. Blinded, the Templar lost his footing and fell backward and overboard. Surprised, the man is caught off-guard over Tsuyu's actions. Tsuyu then asks the man if he can train him. The man states that she is too young and will help find passage at a nearby town.
Tsuyu begins to cry and states that if he will not train her, she will jump overboard and stop living. Seeing the bucket in the ocean, Tsuyu states that she is weak and that she cannot survive as she is now. While she pleads, Alvaro recalls a past mission, where it ended with him having killed an innocent girl. With this in mind, Alvaro agrees to take her under his tutelage but directs her to show her determination and sheer will. Within years, Tsuyu learns and masters both the principles and skills of the Assassin Brotherhood but also realizes that she is able to defend herself.
- Izumi Settsu, 1560s
At an older age, Tsuyu earns her own Hidden Blade from her mentor Alvaro as a reward for what she has mastered. One day, she asks for a leave of few days as she had something to do first. Traveling to a temple, she finds her sister Tomi cleaning up the grounds but Tomi sees her sister and starts to cry. Tomi starts to apologize about how their father made a mistake, but Tsuyu hands her a bag of mon. She explains that the bag will help her achieve her own freedom and leaves her while Tomi thanks her as she cries happily.
- Iga, 1561
Tsuyu remarks how that was the last time she has seen any of her family before noticing Chiyo had gone to sleep during her story. Below them, Fujibayashi Masayasu sat at the ladder, taking in her life story. Realizing how he had yelled at her earlier, Masayasu starts to regret his statements and attitude earlier. While thinking, he is suddenly interrupted by a fellow shinobi Go-rouku. Masayasu believes that it was a change in duty but Go-rouku explains that his turn is tomorrow. He continues to state that he and Tsuyu are needed in a meeting to talk about Hattori Hanzō's message about his mission in Mikawa.
