Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 98 is the ninety-eighth episode of Redice Studio's webtoon Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple, a sequel to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The webtoon, written by ARC and YEON and with art by Tabii, was released on 11 March 2025.
Plot synopsis[]
Having successfully landed on the Shwedagon Pagoda's roof, Edward Kenway uses his Eagle Vision to find an entrance into the temple before he and Shimazu Saito infiltrate the pagoda to retrieve its Piece of Eden. Just as they are about to land on the compartment housing the artifact, the Animus simulation comes to an end and Shimazu Sei is awoken with a slap by Nathan Zhang. Yuki furiously threatens Nathan for daring to lay his hands on Sei, but the doctor assures her that she is fine before Nathan informs them that they have arrived in Yangon.
After bypassing a military checkpoint and entering the city with no difficulties, Sei and Nathan briefly discuss the ongoing civil war in Myanmar on their way to the Shwedagon Pagoda. Reaching the pagoda, the pair observe the soldiers guarding the site, to which Nathan explains that they are overseeing the replacement of the pagoda's golden panels to prevent their theft.
Sei mentions rumors that the military is stealing the panels for themselves, but Nathan dismisses the rumors, claiming that the Burmese take their religion very seriously and the military would not want to risk a major scandal. Concluding that the only way to enter the pagoda will be to break in, Nathan asks Sei if she picked up any of Saito's skills from her time in the Animus. Sei proceeds to display her new mastery of the kunai and claims that she knows exactly where to find the Piece of Eden.
At sunset, Sei and Yuki discuss Noa Kim inside their hotel room, where Yuki mentions that Noa has completely succumbed to the Bleeding Effect and believes himself to be Edward. Sei decides to speak to "Edward" and, after explaining to him that he is in the body of one of his descendants, asks for his help in retrieving the Piece of Eden from the Shwedagon Pagoda so they can cure Noa. "Edward" accepts while Sei ponders if she will be able to resist the Bleeding Effect's toll on her own psyche.
Later that night, Nathan calls Claire Zhang, updating her about his current mission and informing her that he requested the help of some "old friends" in case things go awry. An annoyed Claire asks if that was really necessary, to which Nathan insists that they will need all the assistance they can get to save Noa and that "they" would have found out about their operations sooner or later anyway. Realizing it is too late to back away now, Claire remarks that she never expected her generation to be the one to rekindle the old ties between the Zhawang Corporation and the Assassins.
Once all the preparations are complete, Nathan and his Doom Eagle thugs commence their assault on the soldiers guarding the Shwedagon Pagoda. Amidst the confusion, Sei and Noa infiltrate one of the smaller pagodas nearby, where "Edward" recalls there is an underground passage leading to the main temple. After opening the passage's hidden entrance, Sei and Noa go through the corridor and arrive at the heart of the Shwedagon Pagoda. However, "Edward" then addresses Sei as Saito, causing the doctor to briefly lose herself in her ancestor's memories.
