Plot synopsis[]
While Nathan Zhang and his men attack the Abstergo ship, Shimazu Sei and Yuki decide to escape with Noa Kim and the suitcase containing the crescent amulet. With Noa too weakened by the amulet to walk, Sei offers to carry him while Yuki clears the path ahead, using her electric shock baton bracer to incapacitate two Sigma Team operatives. Meanwhile, on the ship's deck, Nathan's men easily dispatch all the guards, including several Sigma Team agents, prompting the Assassin to express his disappointment and remark that he had more fun fighting Noa in Cebu.
When Noa, Sei, and Yuki arrive on the deck, Nathan sees Noa's condition and angrily confronts Sei, telling her that was against the terms of their deal. With Sigma Team closing in, Sei claims that she has thought of a solution to cure Noa, and Nathan reluctantly allows her to come along, telling her to jump into his speedboat. Once Sei, Noa, Nathan, and Yuki are all aboard, the boat sails away from the Abstergo ship while a Sigma Team operative remarks that Sei has gone rogue.
Following their successful escape, the group heads to a Zhawang Corporation safehouse in Singapore's subzone of Chinatown to lay low. With Noa's condition worsening, he is taken to receive medical attention and tied to a bed due to his Bleeding Effect making him highly aggressive. Sei remarks that Noa has not shown the symptoms commonly associated with the Bleeding Effect, meaning he is currently fighting to retain his sense of self. She then offers to tell Nathan about her solution to cure Noa and leads him to another room, where Yuki has prepared a Portable Animus HR-8.
After showing Nathan the footage gathered from Edward Kenway's memories, Sei explains that historical records indicate Edward made a full recovery from the crescent amulet's effects, since he went on to settle down in London, have a son, and die at the age of 42. She then theorizes that another Piece of Eden played a role in Edward's recovery, meaning that their best chance to save Noa's life is to track down this second artifact. To do so, Sei volunteers to relive the memories of her ancestor, Shimazu Saito. Nathan taunts Sei about the dangers of her plan before she enters the Animus and begins synchronizing with Saito's memories.
In the Animus, with Edward still struggling under the amulet's influence, Saito assumes temporary command of the Fenghuang's crew and is told by John Young, Rupiya, and Yun Pyeong-Gyu that they need to resupply and repair the ship before they arrive at the Sultanate of Sulu. Saito orders them to dock on a nearby island, where she proceeds to personally lead several crew members ashore to gather the resources they need.
