Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 78 is the seventy-eighth episode of Redice Studio's webtoon Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple, a sequel to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The webtoon, written by ARC and NOHT and with art by Tabii, was released on 15 October 2024.
Plot synopsis[]
While searching for Noa Kim in the SS Ourang Medan's wreck, Yuki notices that she only has five minutes worth of oxygen left and contemplates returning to the diving bell. Just then, a floating skeleton touches Yuki's back, catching her off guard, and as she turns to face it she sees more skeletons approaching her, much to her horror. Fortunately, this is revealed to be just an illusion projected by the crescent amulet that Noa is holding.
Their mission a success, Noa and Yuki begin swimming back towards the diving bell, though the former begins to show signs of struggling to resist the amulet's corrupting influence. At that moment, a shark attacks the pair but Noa uses the amulet to repel it, surprising Yuki, who had assumed the Piece of Eden's powers only worked on humans. Eventually, Noa and Yuki make it back to the diving bell safely, whereupon Noa reveals that he is the only one capable of withstanding the amulet's effects and that if anyone else were to touch the artifact, its power would consume them.
After the diving bell returns to the surface, Nathan Zhang, who has been surveying the Abstergo ship with a drone, boards a speedboat and tells his men to commence "Operation: Family Rescue", intending to retrieve both Noa and the amulet. Meanwhile, Yuki brings a weakened Noa to Shimazu Sei, who leads them towards the ship's sickbay. However, several Sigma Team operatives stop them, claiming they have received instructions from the executive committee ordering Noa's termination.
As two operatives grab Noa, Sei argues that they still need the test subject alive in order to research the amulet, and questions whether Sigma Team will risk being blamed in the event Abstego is unable to extract the data from the artifact. She then declares that Noa will be kept alive or else any hope of studying the amulet is lost, and orders the operatives to inform the committee of the new developments. After several moments of silence, Sigma Team complies and lets Noa go, allowing him, Sei and Yuki to enter the sickbay. There, Yuki has Noa place the amulet in a briefcase before Sei announces her intentions to help Noa escape, even if it means betraying Abstergo.
