Plot synopsis[]
Aboard the Exitus, Shimazu Sei is on call with her superiors, who question her decision to keep Noa Kim alive given his recent rampage and the fact that he has fulfilled his purpose of locating the crescent amulet. Sei explains that any attempts to retrieve the amulet without the necessary precautions may prove disastrous, and that Edward Kenway is the only known human who was able to resist the Piece of Eden's powers, making it likely Noa inherited his resistance to the artifact's effects. The Templars decide to trust Sei's judgment and send her a diving bell ship so she can recover the amulet from the Strait of Malacca.
Aboard the ship, Sei asks Yuki if she remembered to bring the "prototype", to which the bodyguard responds in the affirmative and mentions that it was a gift left by Sei's old friend and colleague, Layla Hassan. Sei then explains to an annoyed Noa, who is still recovering from the Bleeding Effect, the purpose of their mission there: to dive into the ocean and retrieve the amulet from the SS Ourang Medan's shipwreck. Meanwhile, Nathan Zhang and his men survey the Abstergo ship from afar, planning to steal the amulet once it is recovered from the bottom of the ocean.
While changing into his scuba gear, Noa is surprised by both Yuki and Sei, much to his irritation. Sei explains that Yuki will be accompanying him during the mission, and Noa jokingly asks if he can keep any other sunken treasure he finds besides the amulet. Once the diving bell submerges into the ocean, Noa and Yuki leave it and approach the Medan's shipwreck.
A shark attacks the pair, but Noa and Yuki manage to avoid it by swimming into the ship's hull, where they commence their search. Noa takes the lead since his Eagle Vision is guiding him to the amulet's location, but while swimming through a dark corridor, he becomes separated from Yuki. Panicked, he lights up a flare, only to see that he has stumbled onto a moray eel nest.
