Plot synopsis[]
Drawn by the destruction of Monkey Island's fort, Shimazu Saito, Yun Pyeong-Gyu, and Rupiya arrive to pick up their fellow Zhang Wei Union members and the villagers from the water. Once aboard the Fenghuang, Yun immediately apologizes for endangering Xialun Qing by having her board the Celestial Chariot, but Qing understands that there was not enough time to test the invention and reveals that Yun's parachute has saved her life. She then claims that they will learn from their mistakes and build a better Celestial Chariot.
John Young is opposed to the idea, as he can not stand the thought of losing Qing again, prompting Qing to reveal that being a Union member is the first time she has felt loved and accepted, as she grew up an orphan on the streets. Upon hearing this, John promises Qing that they will find a place to settle down and asks for her hand in marriage, to which she excitedly accepts. The Union members then decide to leave Monkey Island and resume their voyage to Cebu after bidding farewell to the villagers, including the chief's son, who apologizes to Edward Kenway for misjudging him.
At nightfall, Xiao Han, Liu Qing, Xue Yan, and Fuma Sukuna investigate the fort's ruins as Xiao Han questions Sukuna if his information was correct. After Sukuna states that the mercenaries employed on his clan's behalf told him the native resistance's stronghold was located on Monkey Island, Xiao Han concludes that the resistance has left the island. He then decides to follow them and leaves with Liu Qing and Xue Yan while Sukuna and his ninja stay behind to take care of the remaining matters on the island.
Following the Chinese Assassins' departure, a ninja questions Sukuna if they are going to tolerate Xiao Han's arrogance, to which Sukuna states that they will have to while they are both working alongside Lee Huiyin. He then addresses his mixed-blood subordinates, promising that as long as they remain loyal and prove their worth, the Shimazu clan will welcome them with open arms.
Meanwhile, Xue Yan questions Xiao Han about their mission's righteousness, as they all stood idle and watched while Sukuna's men massacred entire villages in search of information. The Mentor claims that he takes no enjoyment in the path of blood they leave behind, but that it will be worth it once they achieve their goal. Xue Yan tries to argue back but is stopped by Liu Qing, who claims that they all must make sacrifices for the greater good. The Chinese Assassins then meet up with Jeong and her fleet and sail to Cebu to continue their investigation.
In Cebu, the Fenghuang drops off Edward and Saito, who head to the city to look for the next clue to Angkor's location. Arriving at the Basilica del Santo Niño, the Assassin and samurai are surprised to discover that Rajah has beat them to their destination, as the church is surrounded by his brainwashed warriors.
