Plot synopsis[]
Ten hours before their mission to the Forgotten Temple, Claire Zhang met with the three Assassins at the Zhawang Corporation's headquarters to discuss the details of the operation. The Assassins claimed that they would be stationed nearby to help Noa Kim at the right moment, blending among Nagamasa's men since their ancestors were Japanese mercenaries themselves. When Claire remarked that there was a risk of their ancestors' memories taking over, the Assassins revealed that they already had their own artifact to protect them from any possible side effects of the temple.
One hour before the current events, Nagamasa spoke to the Assassins—who had been transformed into their ancestors but retained their sense of self—and gave them their mission. Ordered to cover the Celestial Chariot from the ground and deal with any enemy that might attempt to shoot it down, the Assassins ran ahead to clear the blimp's path. As they did so, their leader reminded them not to lose their focus, as the artifact alone was not enough to shield them from the temple's power.
Back in the present, having completed their assignment, the Assassins are reunited with Nagamasa, "Edward Kenway", and "Shimazu Saito" outside the Forgotten Temple. Yun Pyeong-Gyu, having flown the Celestial Chariot to them, tries to tell Edward and Saito that he will provide cover fire from above, but the pair are unable to make out what he is saying. Nagamasa explains the plan and hands Edward a pistol to signal Yun at any time. He then prepares to lead his men to secure the perimeter and make sure no one interferes with Edward and Saito's mission.
As the Assassins leave to join Nagamasa, their leader briefly speaks with Noa, informing him of their identity and apologizing for being unable to accompany him any further. Noa thanks the Assassins for their help nonetheless and prepares to venture into the temple alongside Shimazu Sei.
Elsewhere, Madam Lee's forces are also making their way towards the temple, fighting through the guardians trying to halt their advance. When they come face-to-face with a giant stone golem towering over them, Lee's quick thinking saves them as she commands her own elephant to charge at the statue, knocking it down. This earns her the admiration of the Nguyễn clan's general, who compares the madam to the legendary Trưng sisters.
At the same time, Xiao Han, Liu Qing, and Xue Yan come across the last guardians blocking their path to the temple. Thanks to their enhanced weapons, which Xiao Han made accessible to anyone using the crescent amulet, the trio quickly dispatch the statues and proceed towards the complex. Xiao Han scales one of its walls and uses his Eagle Vision to look for a way inside. Once he finds it, he informs his fellow Assassins, declaring that the "gateway to their destiny" awaits.
