Plot synopsis[]
Armed with his newly-acquired sword, "Edward Kenway" strikes the giant Singha statue as it runs towards him, cutting off one of its limbs with a single hit. This amazes both him and "Shimazu Saito" and angers the statue, but before it can retaliate, Edward again strikes it with the sword, splitting it in two. When Saito questions how he could perform such an attack, Edward responds that it was courtesy of The Ones Who Came Before. He then uses his Eagle Vision to locate similar weapons stored nearby, and directs Saito to a small pagoda, which the latter kicks over to reveal a golden bow housed within.
At that moment, Claire Zhang contacts Noa Kim via his earpiece to warn him that the Sigma Team members transporting the third artifact have reached the Forgotten Temple, and that the complex is reacting to the Piece of Eden's presence, summoning all stone guardians to it. As an army of guardians surrounds Noa/Edward and Saito/Shimazu Sei, the pair prepare to put their new weapons to use against them.
Elsewhere, the Sigma Team members contact the Abstergo headquarters to report their progress. The operatives are ordered to proceed with the next phase of their mission: placing the third artifact at the heart of the temple, which should grant Abstergo complete control over it. The operatives comply and begin making their way into the complex. The temple detects the Piece of Eden's presence and emanates a golden beam from its central pedestal, which is visible to all around the complex.
As Xiao Han, Liu Qing, and Xue Yan ride towards the temple on horseback, they see the beam of light before being attacked by a Naga statue. The creature knocks Xue Yan off her horse and nearly crushes her with its tail, but Xiao Han grabs the young Assassin and throws her to safety, taking the hit instead. The Naga's attack also destroys a smaller statue nearby, causing it to drop the halberd it was holding. An injured Xiao Han orders Liu Qing to toss him the weapon, which interacts with the crescent amulet in his possession, allowing him to destroy the Naga with a single hit.
Amazed by their Mentor's actions, Liu Qing and Xue Yan question how he summoned such tremendous power, to which Xiao Han explains that the halberd once belonged to Those Who Came Before and was likely created to fight against the stone guardians. He then directs the two to other statues holding similar weapons, telling them to arm themselves and make haste, as they are in a race against time to reach the Forgotten Temple and claim its power before it falls into unworthy hands. Elsewhere, the temple projects apparitions of Madam Lee, Alan Jacob, and their respective armies, which engage in a standoff.
