ACB Antico District Overlook

An aerial view of the Antico district

The Antico District (English: Old District) was one of the four districts of Rome during the Renaissance. This district was characterized by its numerous ancient ruins, hilly landscapes and grass fields, as well as being the district with the fewest buildings, with long roads connecting the villages of the district.

History[]

During the early 16th century, the Antico district, like the Centro and Campagna districts, fell into disrepair under the rule of the House of Borgia. They exerted their influence over the citizens of the district through three Borgia Towers, each guarded by a Borgia Captain.[1]

By 1503, Ezio Auditore had burned down all of the Borgia Towers and had re-opened most of the shops. He had also already re-established the Thieves Guild under the disguise of the inn La Volpe Addormentata at the request of fellow Assassin La Volpe, in order to aid him in his war against the Borgia.[2]

Ezio also explored four Lairs of Romulus located in the district, with all of them being hidden underneath famous landmarks, such as the Colosseum, the Lateran Palace, the Pyramid of Cestius, and the Baths of Trajan.[1]

When the Assassin Lo Sparviero was tasked by Niccolò Machiavelli to kill the Templar agents in Palatine Hill, he avenged the deaths of four Assassin apprentices and retrieved their Hidden Blades.[3] Later, he tracked down large crates of Corvix Blades near the Colosseum and killed the leader of Crows, Matteo Favero.[4]

The Antico district spanned the whole of the southern area of Rome and was most famous for its ruined ancient structures, after which it was named. It was also adjacent to the Centro and Campagna districts, and within it, Ezio could find:
