- According to the myths, Anios was the child of the god Apollo and Rhoeo; his grandfather refused to believe that Rhoeo had been impregnated by a god, so he shut her in a box and set adrift on the sea. She reached Delos, gave birth to the boy and placed it on an altar, praying for Apollo to save the baby if it was his.
