A Measure of Respect was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan in 2020 through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Description[]
Eivor met with Braun's uncle.
Dialogue[]
As night fell, Eivor returned to the Ship of the Dead.
- Mad Monk: The Grim Rider approaches!
Eivor went over to Brother Maxwell.
- Mad Monk: All falls into place. The pattern comes into focus...
- Eivor: Does it now?
- Mad Monk: A rune of protection writ large on the longhouse, the restless put to rest, and a people prepared for the hunt.
- Eivor: I think you're less mad than you let on, monk. But I have to disappoint you. There will be no hunt.
- Mad Monk: Will there not? Even now, powerful forces gather. We're not out of the woods yet!
Thundering storm clouds gathered as did the residents of Ravensthorpe.
- Braun: The gods are angry! I'll never doubt you again, Uncle!
- Sunniva: Did we do something wrong?
- Alwin: What does it mean?
- Thyra: The Wild Hunt.
Eivor mounted a table to placate the crowd.
- Eivor: Everyone, listen! The Wild Hunt will not come for us this night!
- Ake: How do you know that?
- Eivor: Because I've seen the courage and skill of our people. We've come together, Norse and Saxon alike, to meet great challenges... And because I know that when people are united and strong, they earn the respect of the gods!
Lighting cracked.
- Sunniva: The gods are with us.
Eivor looked over to see Brother Maxwell standing next to what appeared to be a spectral host including Kalf who all turned and left the festival grounds.
Outcome[]
Eivor gave a speech to set the minds of Ravensthorpe's people at ease following dire portents from Braun's uncle Maxwell.
