Alonzo searched for The Monk in a place where they were to meet.

- Alonzo: Why am I here?
The Monk appeared before Alonzo.
- Monk: To assist a monk and become a wiser soul, pirate.
- Alonzo: You've promised me wisdom, but all you offer is gold...
- Monk: A misleading tune for a misled man... I've offered much more to those who wish to understand.
- Alonzo: Who are you talking about?
- Monk: Those who see through the words and glimpse the light of the world.
The Monk quickly departed without saying more.
- Alonzo: The light of the world...
Alonzo retrieved the goods protected by a ship and returned to the place were the Monk was supposed to meet him.
- Alonzo: Here is your merchandise, monk.
The Monk appeared before Alonzo.
- Monk: My gratitude is yours, pirate.
- Alonzo: Gratitude is no currency, monk... Gold is my religion.
- Monk: How vain... Freedom is mine.
- Alonzo: Are monks even allowed to believe in freedom?
- Monk: I shunned the Lord when my father was murdered... Vengeance is a most potent calling, pirate.
The Monk departed with his parcels.
- Alonzo: A vengeful monk...

Alonzo continued acquiring goods for the Monk, receiving compensation and information on his benefactor for his efforts.
