It can be as abstract as the art and time period, or as mechanical as the map design and parkour elements. Just give it a shot lol.
This post makes me feel old...
I'll admit though I never grew up with a ps3 or xbox, and was a nintendo kid all the way, which is why I'm playing a lot more mature games these days. On a somewhat related note, I can see the argument for why kids shouldn't play assassin's creed or other violent games. Or even games like the Arkham series or the Far Cry series. I guess I'm used to not playing games as a kid, so that's my perspective.
I'm gonna be honest, I think that Mirage will definitely have more RPG style mechanics especially considering it's being made with Valhalla's framework and was originally going to be a dlc for it. For better or for worse :(.
I love how this post is written, it's so unintentionally funny.
I voted for Mirage, but believe me when I say I'm extremely excited for the VR title we're getting soon. I was gifted a quest 2 in december and it's like my eyes have been opened. Not sure how traditional AC gameplay would translate to the less movement-based and more body motion oriented nature of most VR titles.
Lock this down.
To answer the actual post though, it becomes very obvious when you walk through the street. Guards will be more suspicious of you, even if they just see you.
I understand its meaning and deeper connotations but it looks silly to me, that's all.
I'm not gonna lie, I never liked his little cape. Glad he got rid of it, but still his revelations outfit was a bit bland. probably just needed less grey.
Getting flashbacks to ordering the deluxe version rdr2 for an extra story mission; was NOT worth it. In the end these things (especially pre-order specials) will eventually go free after a year.
I always liked AC for its unique approach on stealth. definitely a lot more aggressive and item-focused play in most of the titles, using your equipment to distract or confuse your enemies. Did I mention dudes in hoods?
Also the secret war going on for centuries. Not too fond of the modern-day stories though.
It's a pretty good game but I don't think it's worth buying an older console or pc for. HOWEVER, I do know that you can buy a subscription to PS Plus (not sure what tier), for access to AC1.
I personally had bad experience with it back when it was PS Now, but that was atleast 4 years ago. You can get a free trial for ps plus iirc. I'd recommend you try it out, since the catalog of games last i checked is really good.
^ the mood right now fr. unrelated question, but is there a discord server for this community? is it actually active? i'd love to talk there.

Pretty much lol. I will say, though, it works.
I'd say the world is pretty vibrant. Drunkards, Thugs, Patrols of guards, as well as beggars and pot-carriers(? I'll just call them that ig) add to the dynamic crowd system. You're probably right in regards to difficulty though lol.
Jokes aside, I do have to say 1 is my favorite due in part to the planning and difficulty of assassinations. The world and culture is also a delight.
@TheIrishTemplar tell me you fangirl over shay without telling me you fangirl over shay.
Looking forward to playing AC3, since I heard the bounty system is quite robust, as well as the reworked recruit mechanics. Pretending to be your disguised recruits' prisoner sounds extremely fun and useful.
So I was bored as hell today replaying 2, and I usually hold the belief that Assassin's Creed's lack of difficulty is what makes it fun. However, to spice things up I began to play through missions and do some free roaming whilst being notorious.
The added challenge and large suite of social stealth tools really makes being notorious fun and adds to the "assassin fantasy."
Blending in with crowds is necessary to get anywhere on the ground, since guards will notice you. Avoiding those damn musicians is a necessity now, so taking the back alleys and lesser populated routes is encouraged.
The (relative) safety of rooftops is complemented by the sudden increase in danger on ground level. I opted to avoid the roofs entirely since I was in Venice and hated rooftop archers. However, in any other city I'd be sticking to the roofs and planning my every descent into the streets.
Descending into the streets again. it's much more beneficial to dive into water or perform a leap of faith. There are other systems too which are extremely important like hiring factions to disperse guards from POI, like banks or guarded entrances.
If you're ever caught and outnumbered/ill prepared, throwing down smoke bombs for a quick getaway onto a bench or crowd is exhilarting and efficient. Coins work just as handy for attracting crowds to slow down pursuing guards, or even to distract them.
Berserk blades and hidden blade assassinations are a walking risk/reward calculation now, sacrificing distance and exposure for the relief of a safe area, distraction, or empty post.
Notoriety just heightens Social Stealth mechanics because of the huge level of risk. It's a shame it's so easy to get rid of. It kind of died with AC4 (can't really speak for AC3).
In Unity I thought there would be some return to form, but sadly crowds aren't as able to be manipulated, nor is notoriety a system in it. Detection is another can of worms.
In the meantime, I'll be screwing around in the Ezio trilogy.
It won't be in Mirage.
I've never really played any MP mode besides Unity's co-op a few times. I liked it. But the classic MP looks really cool and unique.
This is going to sound ridiculous, but my first 'exposure' to it was during like 2015 when I saw a video on that Sneaky Assassins minigame in a minecraft server. I'd always thought the concept would be cool in an actual game, then I learned that it was literally just AC's multiplayer, lol.
I'm burnt out on the series as well, honestly. Been replaying Fallout, Ace Combat, and some other games. It's honestly just really stressful at this point in my life (college apps) so gaming is something Im almost obsessively been doing to distract myself lol.
