With Assassin Creed: Awakening being considered not cannon- where does Ubisoft stand on Forgotten Temple? I know it was part of their Chronicles slate, but is it to be taken as a part of the “true” timeline? It’s had to keep track these days.

With each game, I feel like I’m losing steam with the franchise. My favorite part of the series, which may be a hot take, was always the bits of modern day storylines— it made the story so much more unique than just “an assassin game”. The first few games laid out such fascinating lore of this alternate-history of Templar influence in current events, and even thru the “noob” and “numbskull” eras I liked picking up the pieces of how the real world was reacting to and growing with things. But after struggling through how poor Layla’s storyline ended up and with most of Mirage’s stuff getting cut I really really hope they don’t throw out the modern day story altogether. There is so much more potential with that world. To me it’s what made Assassins Creed Assassins Creed.
@Littlemonster67 I didnt! I only know about them through going down the rabbit-hole on these fandom pages. They were all gone before my time and I agree, it friggin sucks.
As a late comer to the franchise, delving into these pages and reading how rich the community used to be for the Assassins franchise and how much of it is gone hurts my heart. That there was the Initiates site where you could learn more “secret” details about the game world, an abstergo website on which you could hack an employee email, that there were companion apps and standalone games and even a Facebook interaction; and all of it… gone. Forgotten. I get maybe it was a bit much to manage but I would do anything to get some of that “real-world” interactivity back.
What about Prince of Persia? The Sands of Time alone was phenomenal and paved the way for the free running of AC. The trilogy will always hold a special place in my heart
