I pre-ordered the collector's edition when it was announced, but thought back on it and asked for a refund.
I'm just gonna buy the "regular" version on Xbox.
To be honest, i really want it to do well. I think, as fans of the AC universe, we all want it to. But it really feels like the game is cursed with all the things happening around it. And on top of that, i don't have the greatest trust in Ubisoft to handle things with class and panache (when have they ever ?)...
I even pre-ordered the game when it was first available, being a fan of Japanese culture and all... But it's the first time i had to cancel a pre-order because i really don't trust the way things are going.
Really hope i'm wrong, though...
I agree with you, the modern day is an integral part of the AC ethos. But with the most vocal members of the community (I'm being nice) repeatedly trashing the various attempts of a modern day in the franchise, I'm afraid we're not gonna have a structured narrative for a while.
Even the way Ubisoft described it with the whole Animus Hub thingy seems a bit doomed from the start if I'm honest.
Which is such a shame, the concept is absolutely brilliant and one of the aspects which draw me to the franchise.
I know it's a bit of a unpopular opinion but I feel like AC1 isn't really a good game. Don't get me wrong, I played it back in the day when it came out and loved it. But I feel that it's not really looked upon by the community with honest eyes but with the filter of nostalgia. And I'm also not a fan of Altaïr (in AC1, I love older Altaïr in Revelation).
All that said, if they come up with a remake, I would probably play it without even thinking.
Assassin's Creed Hexe is the coolest of the list, by far.
But Assassin’s Creed Coven is actually quite good, I don't know why but it's working for me.

I was reading the wiki on Noa Kim, the modern day protagonist of the Forgotten Temple comic series and I was wondering :
It says that he is of mixed race, with his father being American and his mother Korean. Do we know the year of his birth ?
My first thought was "Could he be Desmond's son ? A bit like Elijah was in the Uprising comics (and completely gone since). The fact that his father was American and that he is a descendant of Edward Kenway made me think of that.
But then, in the wiki, it said that his father mysteriously vanished when Noa was still young, implying that he knew him.
So, yeah...

I don't know about Michael B Jordan... I mean I love the guy, he's a fantastic actor but I don't see him as Bayek.

As for the others, I think you're spot on (especially Charlie for Edward).
I've always wanted to see how Alexander the Great would be handled in the AC universe. The dude is absolutely fascinating and since Julius Caesar and Gengis Khan are already part of the franchise (meaning more than a mention, as opposed to Alexander with Iltani), it would make sense to have one of the biggest conquerors in the history of the world included.
