To me, it feels like a big filler to the franchise. All the "reunite the family" thing and the Cult of Kosmos added very little to the lore. Only the Atlantis quests and the expansions were somewhat relevant.

Actual garbage
How dare you
You have stolen my dreams and my childhood, with your empty words!
I found the whole experience of Odyssey really dull from the first moment I even played.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey actually had ✨A lot of important plot✨ if you paid enough attention. Bayek’s wife was a direct descendant of Kassandra, showing that Kassandra’s actions played a part(a small part maybe) in the role of the creation of the Assassin’s and Hidden One’s. Kassandra was also the Heir of Memories, a false facade for Kassandra to give the Staff of Hermes to Layla who would then take it to Basim/Loki. It was in no way shape or form a “Filler” as it play an important part in the games plot. A “Filler” games example would be the excess Ezio based games that really didn’t play much part in the actual plot except to provide lore and history into the game.
First, thanks for the spoiler for AC Valhalla.
Second, maybe you didn't read the text. I said that the Atlantis quests in the main campaign and the two DLCs, First Blade (with Elpidio and Aya) and Atlantis (with the Heir of Memories thing) were relevant to the AC plot. My issue is just with the rest.
For example, your only reward for reuniting your family is having them as lieutenants for your ship. Same goes for the Cult of Kosmos. If they were another precursor for the Templar Order or a part of the Order of the Ancients, I'd consider them relevant. Instead, they disappear from history after this game.
But I get your viewpoint. That would make Odyssey a semi-filler instead.
Bad game, bad AC game, good open world.
It's okay. I do think it was too disconnected from the rest of the franchise to feel like an AC game.
@VendettaRev what do you mean “If they were a precursor” they legitimately are a precursor to the Order of Ancients and Templars
@Dionysus01 No, they were partners with the Order of the Ancients, which was founded long before them. And as I said, they were destroyed by Kassandra.
What do you think?
