Hello everyone!
I have just finished updating the guidelines, which were to be frank, quite outdated. The former guidelines were, admittedly, vague and unclear on many points and also not too well-organized. As well, as time passed, I found myself finding them to be too strict on some things for my taste and what I've seen with you guys on this board. Other new rules have also been made to address some issues I have encountered though.
Some of the major changes that I've formalized now are:
•Memes are now allowed, and I have created a new category for it. :)
•"What is your favorite..." questions are also now allowed in all cases except the really common ones listed in the guidelines will be limited to once a month
•Certain off-topic posts which help bring people together like holiday greetings or checking in on people around here when world crises (*cough* coronavirus *cough*) happen are also allowed. I came across some of these before, and I thought, well these are nice, if everyone is fine with them, why not?
•But there are also some firm restrictions on other kinds of off-topic posts.
•Guidelines for duplicate posts are also clearer. If a post is a duplicate of another post that had been made within the past 7 days, it will be deleted. But even if I'm tired of seeing a post, if it's past this period, I will be sure not to remove it.
•I added some points I felt were important to mention that weren't in the old guidelines, like no hate speech or prejudice.
Please check out the new guidelines when you guys have time! And let me know if you guys have any questions about them or think that anything is missing!
